The Birmingham Squadron gave back more than $34,000 to local charities during 2023-24 season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala – The Birmingham Squadron announced the team’s 2023-24 season charitable donation results, amounting to a total of more than $34,000 given back to local charity and nonprofit organizations via corporate partner activations, specialty jersey auctions and team performance-based sponsor goals.

“We always say we are more than 24 home games,” said Birmingham Squadron general manager Leslie Claybrook. “We continually look for ways to give back to our community in meaningful ways and I am proud of our efforts to do so during last season. We are particularly thankful for our corporate partners for helping make some of our activation possible and we could not have given back at such a high level without them.”

The Squadron, in partnership with Morris Bart Law Firm, hold a missed free throws promotion benefitting the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama with a total of $8,500. Each time the Squadron’s opponent misses three free throws in a game at Legacy Arena, $500 is donated to the Food Bank.

The Squadron’s “Tribute to the Birmingham Black Barons” specialty jerseys worn over the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend raised funds for the Negro Southern League Museum in Birmingham, while an auction of limited-edition Star Wars items benefitted The Bell Center.

Birmingham hosted a teddy bear toss at the team’s annual Holiday Game benefitting the A.G. Gaston Boys and Girls Club, and the team, in partnership with UAB Callahan Eye, took a local family on a shopping spree at Academy Sports and Outdoors.

As a part of the Birmingham community, the Squadron donated community tickets to over 35 charity and nonprofit organizations in the Birmingham Metro Area.
