Squadron acquire returning player rights to Ike Anigbogu

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (January 22, 2022) – The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that the team has assigned Naji Marshall and Trey Murphy III to the team’s G League affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron. The Squadron have also acquired the returning player rights to Ike Anigbogu

Marshall, 6-6, 220, has appeared in 55 games (10 starts) in two seasons with New Orleans, averaging 5.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 16.7 minutes per contest. Marshall has made 23 appearances off the bench this season, holding averages of 3.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 9.6 minutes per game.

Murphy III, 6-8, 208, has averaged 3.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 36 games during his rookie campaign with the Pelicans. He also played in two games with the Squadron during the 14-game Showcase this season, averaging 18.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals in 36.5 minutes per game.

Ike Anigbogu joins the Squadron after playing with the Erie Bayhawks during the 2020-21 season, the Pelicans former G League affiliate. Anigbogu initially joined the NBA with the Indiana Pacers, where he played in 14 games over two seasons (2017-19), including several assignments to the team’s G League affiliate, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

The San Diego, California native has played in 47 career G League games with the Mad Ants and Bayhawks and hold career averages of 9.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists.
