FORWARD ZYLAN CHEATHAM RETURNS TO THE BIRMINGHAM SQUADRON

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (January 24, 2022) – The Birmingham Squadron, NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, announced today that forward Zylan Cheatham will be returning to the team. In a corresponding move, the Squadron have released Nate Bradley.

Cheatham (6-8, 220) returns to Birmingham after spending time in the NBA on a 10-day contract with the Miami Heat, and then another 10-day contract with the Utah Jazz.

Cheatham played in 13 games with the Squadron during the G League’s Showcase tournament earlier this season and averaged 14.2 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals in 30.6 minutes per game. Cheatham was one of only 11 players in the G League to average a double-double over the Showcase.

Cheatham is in his third G League season. The Phoenix, Arizona native came to the G League after three seasons in the college ranks with San Diego State (2016-18) and Arizona State (2018-19). As a junior at Arizona State,

Cheatham led the Pac-12 in rebounds and finished the season as one of two players in the nation to average a double-double and three assists per game.

The Squadron take the court again tonight at Legacy Arena, facing the Oklahoma City Blue at 7:00 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcasted locally on My68 and V94.9 FM as well as NBAGLeague.com.
