BIRMINGHAM, AL (September 1, 2021) – The Birmingham Squadron, along with the NBA G League, has announced its full 2022-23 season schedule.
Birmingham is set to host 24 home games this season at Legacy Arena, tipping off with a home season-opener on Nov. 6 against the Lakeland Magic. In total, the Squadron will hit the court for 50 games this season.
“We are very excited about season two for the Birmingham Squadron. Following last year’s playoff success, the 24 home games will provide an opportunity for the Birmingham community to come out and support the team at Legacy Arena in hopes of another post-season run,” said Squadron General Manager Leslie Claybrook. “We have planned great theme and group nights and giveaways for every home game this season. Fans will be excited to see high-level professional basketball right here in Birmingham - and have fun while doing so.”
Much like last season, the G League will begin with an 18-game Showcase Cup before convening in Las Vegas for the annual December Winter Showcase, the in-season NBA scouting event.
The regular season will see G League teams’ records reset and include the final 32 games that conclude with the league’s playoffs. Birmingham will remain in the NBA G League’s Western Conference this season which includes the Austin Spurs, G League Ignite, Iowa Wolves, Memphis Hustle, Mexico City Capitanes, Oklahoma City Blue, Ontario Clippers, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Salt Lake City Stars, Santa Cruz Warriors, Sioux Falls Skyforce, South Bay Lakers, Stockton Kings, and Texas Legends.
Additionally, Birmingham Squadron will host an NBA preseason game between its parent team, the New Orleans Pelicans, and the Atlanta Hawks on Oct. 14 at Legacy Arena. Tickets for that game are now available at http://www-local.nba.com/birmingham/tickets/.
