BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (March 23, 2022) – The Birmingham Squadron (14-14), NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, redeemed themselves with a 41-point rout over the Sioux Falls Skyforce (13-17) for a final score of 136-95, marking the team’s highest margin of victory this season.

The Squadron jumped off to a quick start with a 41-point first quarter led by guard Jared Harper (12 points) and forward Zylan Cheatham (10 points). By the end of the quarter, the team held a 15 point lead on their opponent. The first quarter tonight was the Squadron’s sixth 40-point quarter this season.

Harper, continuing his trend as the team’s highest scoring player, finished the night with a team-high 28 points in addition to nine assists and four rebounds. Guard Riley LaChance and center Zach Hankins tied for second on the team with 20 points a piece.

LaChance shot an extremely accurate 66.7% from the field (8-for-12) and 40.0% from behind the arc (2-for-5). Hankins continued his efficient scoring, shooting 90.0% from the field (9-for-10), while adding 9 rebounds, two steals and an assist. Hankins now shoots a team-high 66.7% from the floor, which ranks second in the G League among players with at least 200 attempts.

Squadron guard Justin Wright-Foreman shot 77.8% and established a season high with 19 points on the night. Wright-Foreman also had three rebounds and a steal tonight.

Zylan Cheatham (14) and Daulton Hommes (13) were both amongst the six Squadron players to score into the double-digits tonight. With that, Cheatham also added eight rebounds and two assists, and Hommes finished the night with three rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal.

On the other side of the court, the Skyforce was led by guard Kyle Guy who shot 60.0% with 26 points on the night in addition to his three rebounds and three assists. Skyforce Guard Javonte Smart also fought to close the gap totaling 13 points, three assists, a rebounds and a steal.

Birmingham will have a small break before facing off against the Texas Legends on Sunday March 27 at Legacy Arena at 5:00 p.m. CT.
